Webinar | Beyond Self-Improvement: A Guide for Mental Hygiene by Dr Rigobert Kefferputz, ND

In recent years “mental hygiene” has experienced a resurgence, growing increasingly popular in personal development circles, and in many ways has begun to overlap with the nuances of mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and insomnia. We are a product of our time. Therapy has its place and can be enormously helpful. However, it is at best only a steppingstone, and at worst becomes a diversion in which we become trapped for a long time, even our entire lives—the obsession with fixing ourselves. It is what compels many people to seek out therapy so it should be understood as a natural motivating force. Used in the best way, the “urge to change” becomes a deep curiosity about one’s character and essential nature. The point of this webinar is to illuminate beyond the quality of self-improvement and understand the nature of self-rejection as it relates to the impoverishing quality of mental health conditions.

Much of depression, insomnia, and anxiety is rooted in the amplifying nature of the mind. Something that begins as a marginal problem easily becomes worse by fixating on it too much. And when therapy is unsuccessful, it is often related to this semi-obsessional fixation on personal character defects, and the need to endlessly process them. So, we must meet our mind – to own the quality of our thoughts and not be directed by them. The key to this mental hygiene practice is indeed ownership, but this ownership cannot just be mouthed, it needs to be lived. Please join Dr. Rigobert Kefferputz in a venture to “know thyself” in the face of these mental health conditions. Not in an inwardly contracted and self-absorbed fashion, but in a manner that enables us to stop apologizing for how we are, and, by extension, mold our life into a magnum opus despite the darker qualities that afflict our mental hygiene.
